Monique Skittrall, a foundation learning student at Cornwall College Camborne, has successfully secured a place in the National Qualifiers of WorldSkills UK in the Restaurant Service category.
Monique’s outstanding performance has earned her a spot among the top contenders in the country in her field, as WorldSkills UK showcases skills and expertise across various industries.
With a record number of entries this year, the competition spokesperson noted the high standard, congratulating Monique on progressing to the next stage – the nationals.
Expressing her excitement, Monique shared, “I feel thrilled and excited. I had to overcome my nerves, as I can sometimes feel shy around new people.”
Looking ahead, she expressed her aspirations to work in the hospitality industry, particularly in front-of-house roles such as receptionist, waitress, or bar staff.
Ruth Dixcee, senior study programme manager at Cornwall College Camborne, part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), expressed immense pride in Monique’s achievements.

The next round of WorldSkills UK is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28th, providing Monique with an opportunity to showcase her exceptional skills and talent in Restaurant Services.
