Kicked off school bus

A NUMBER of pupils were forced to walk home along “dangerous” roads from Fowey River Academy after school bus drivers refused to let them on because they did not have their bus pass.
Students who tried to board the bus home after school on Thursday were told by Roselyn Coaches drivers they could not get on if they did not have their bus pass.
The action left a number of pupils stranded as they were unable to find alternative transport and were forced to walk miles to get home instead.

- As a volunteer council driver I sympathise with the coach drivers they can lose their jobs if they are found to let pupils on without passes it´s the same for all schools. The onus is on pupils to carry their I.d.

- I was a bus driver many years ago and found most times pupils did not have the pass.
Our instructions were: Going to school you would take their names and tell them to go to the relevant person at school to obtain a temporary pass till the new one came. On leaving school if a child presented without a pass then told to go to relevant person for temporary pass. Bus would not wait for them as they were in a safe place. Names also would be handed in to bus officials. In my opinion the bus officials just filed the names under "Bin". Until schools and bus officials cooperate on this matter it will carry on and on.
