Hall for Cornwall gig for student band
SECOND year music students from Cornwall College St Austell have been chosen to perform at Hall for Cornwall as part of The Cornwall Music Education Hub’s annual showcase.
Held on April 24, the Hub will contain local schools, youth ensembles and young soloists/duos/small groups, and aims to highlight the variety of young musical talent in Cornwall.
Music student, Josh Rowe said he is really looking forward to playing at the HfC.
“It'll be a great experience because of the size of crowd and it’s going to really enhance my musical ability because I'll be more confident whilst playing on stage,” he explained.
There are approximately 16 performance slots on each night and the college band ‘Turquoise Zebra’ will have up to eight minutes to perform on stage to an audience of music enthusiasts.
Singer in the band, Chloe Jarvis is no stranger to the stage, having played there when she was at Poltair School.
She said: “I believe this is a huge opportunity for our entire class, including myself, as it will hopefully boost our performance experience for the future.“
She added: “Cornwall College has really helped me as a musician as it has given me the opportunity to play gigs outside of college and experience what it's like to perform on a professional platform.”
Music Lecturer, Laura Philpott said the second year band Turquoise Zebra, “will be performing a selection of their disco repertoire on the night, which will contain some classic numbers and will get the audiences feet tapping that’s for sure.”
The name of the event is ‘CMEH’s Hub Sounds’ and tickets are £7 and can be bought from HfC Box office on 01872 262 466.
