Work progressing on Carlyon area plan
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN: For residents in Carlyon Bay and Tregrehan

A PLAN which will give residents in Carlyon Bay and Tregrehen the chance to take control of what they want to see in their village is progressing.

The Carlyon Parish Neighbourhood Plan was officially launched by Carlyon Parish Council in January and when finalised will mean that the parish will have much greater control over development in the area.

Robin Malcolm, from the steering committee, said the process of devising the plan is now under way and the steering committee are identifying various items of expenditure so they can apply for the grants which are available for plan development.

The steering committee is now looking for volunteers to help with the plan.

Mr Malcolm told the Voice: “We need to examine the whole parish to allow the plan to show the best areas for development and what type of development it should be.

“Obviously this is going to take a great deal of effort so the steering committee is looking for help in many areas. One thing which most people could help with is the distribution of literature about the plan.

“Ideally we would like someone or someones from every road in the parish to volunteer to deliver to their immediate area. If you feel you ca  help - and it should involve delivery just to your street - then do let us know.

“The neighbourhood plan will have a major impact on the shape and character of our area for many years to come so it is essential that as many residents and businesses are involved as possible.

“We are preparing a survey which will go to every house and business in the parish.

“We are also working on the promotion of the plan through exhibitions, in the local schools where many of our children attend, through public events and by the involvement of our local businesses. If you feel you can help in that sphere then do come forward.

“We were pleased with the response and attendance at our last meeting and hope even more can attend the next one tonight.”

The next public meeting to discuss the plan will be held tonight in the chapel at Tregrehan from 6pm.

Anyone who wants to become more involved is asked to contact the steering committee by emailing carlyonplan@btinternet.com
