Tretherras stages Charity Week
NEWQUAY students have put their thinking caps on to raise more than £1,500 for charity.
Newquay Tretherras staged its House Charity Week in aid of Marie Curie where the five teams organised fundraising activities at breaks and lunchtimes.
The activities included cake sales, Pie Face the teacher, a football tournament, guess the teacher baby photo, a car wash and even an augmented reality treasure hunt. Head of Longships House, Dan Ellery, raised more than £100 by having his beard shaved off by students!
Other Newquay Tretherras events, the NT’s Got Talent evening and the NT Spring Concert, also collected money in support of the charity. On the last day of term, students raised the final sum of money with a ‘wear it yellow’ non-uniform day.
Newquay Tretherras teacher Jane Hurley, representing all the heads of house, said: “Newquay Tretherras students have pulled together for a charity that some of our staff and students have had first-hand experience of their support. We are incredibly proud of the community spirit our students have shown and the awareness they raised.”
