Volunteers tidy up garden

PLANS to improve a neglected area of Newquay have begun after volunteers rolled up their sleeves to carry out clearance work on Sunday.
Newquay in Bloom volunteers collaborated with local residents to start work on improving the garden at the bottom of Crantock Street. The site is being readied ahead of a sustainable planting scheme to encourage wildlife and insects, as well as edible plants and herbs to benefit the local community.
Funding for the project has come from Newquay Regeneration Forum and Newquay Town Council.
Resident Andrew Pringle helped to organise volunteers.
Newquay in Bloom Partnership secretary, Lesley Friel, said: “This was only the beginning and work will continue next Sunday morning (March 12) from 9.30am, so anyone interested in getting involved is very welcome to come along.
“Suitable gloves and enthusiasm are all that are required!”
